Popular fitness coach and biker Victor Kazembe, widely known as Coach Rambo, is recovering in hospital after sustaining multiple injuries in a road traffic accident along the Harare–Bulawayo Highway on Saturday evening.

Coach Rambo is admitted at Avenues Clinic in Harare after suffering broken ribs, a punctured lung and head injuries when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a kombi.

According to colleagues, the fitness trainer was travelling from Norton towards Harare when the accident occurred shortly after he had passed the bridge near the site where three CAPS United players—Blessing Makunike, Shingi Arlon and Gary Mashoko—lost their lives in a crash in March 2004.

Witnesses alleged that the kombi, which reportedly had no passengers on board, was leaving a nearby bar and failed to give way to the motorcycle. The circumstances surrounding the accident have not been officially confirmed by police.

A colleague said Coach Rambo remained under close medical observation while undergoing further examinations.

"He suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung and is experiencing chest pains. He also sustained head injuries and doctors are carrying out scans to assess the full extent of his injuries," the colleague said.

The colleague added that family members and friends were mobilising funds to meet medical expenses, including specialist examinations and the initial costs of his admission at Avenues Clinic.

Coach Rambo was initially treated at Norton Hospital before being transferred to Belvedere Medical Centre and later to Avenues Clinic for specialised care.

His colleagues also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified information on social media.

"There has been a lot of speculation online, much of it inaccurate. During times like these, we should show compassion and avoid sharing unverified information about people and their families," the colleague said.

Members of Zimbabwe's biking community, many of whom responded to the accident scene and assisted with his transfer between hospitals, have also appealed for prayers as he continues to receive treatment.

A member of the biking community said Coach Rambo had also sustained an injury to his jaw that may require surgery.

"For now, we are asking the nation to continue praying for his recovery. He is receiving treatment, further scans are being conducted, and doctors are assessing the need for surgery on his jaw," the biker said.

Family members have likewise appealed for prayers as Coach Rambo continues his recovery.
