Two Chitungwiza brothers have pleaded guilty to attempted murder charges after tying a man they suspected to be having an affair with "their wife" with neckties and electric cables before savagely attacking him with an iron bar.
Learnmore Masibera (26), who is married to the woman at the centre of the controversy, and his elder brother Lincoln (28), appeared before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo on Friday.
Prosecutor Mr Learnmore Zuze told the court that on December 2 the two brothers and an accomplice who is still at large visited the complainant at his Chitungwiza home and accused him of having an affair with Learnmore's wife.
The court heard the trio tied the complainant's hands and legs with neckties and electric cables, sat him in a chair and began to assault him with an iron bar.
The three allegedly took turns to assault the complainant all over the body, leaving him unconscious. The matter was reported at Seke Police Station, leading to the Masibera brothers' arrest.
Police discovered an iron bar, electric cables and two ties at the scene.
The court also heard that the complainant has since been admitted to Chitungwiza Central Hospital and is reported to be in a very critical condition and can neither walk nor talk.
The Masibera brothers were remanded in custody to December 20 and were advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
