Minister of State for Provincial Affairs responsible for Matabeleland South Abednicho Ncube made his first appearance in Parliament on Tuesday since October last year when he broke his leg at a Zanu-PF party in Beitbridge.

Ncube reportedly slipped on his way to lunch and broke his femur and was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo for treatment.

The femur or thighbone is the largest and strongest of all bones in the human body. Though tremendously strong, the femur can be broken typically by falls from great heights and in car accidents.

Speaker of the national assembly Jacob Mudenda noted Ncube's attendance and welcomed the Zanu-PF Gwanda North legislator.

Ncube is still walking with the aid of crutches.

"I would like to recognise Hon. Minister Abednico Ncube, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs responsible for Matabeleland South who has been indisposed for a long time," Mudenda said.

"He is here with us but still on his crutches. Welcome Minister"

Ncube at the time of his appointment had shown a great zeal towards his work as he had already visited most districts in the province before his injury on Saturday.

Ncube however managed to still court controversy after his injury with reports that he threatened Southern Eye Gwanda based reporter, Albert Ncube, with violence over some story the journalist had written about him.

The Media Institute for Southern Africa (MISA) Zimbabwe chapter and the Zimbabwe Union for Journalists (ZUJ) were quick to condemn Ncube's actions saying they were a violation of the press freedom principle.
