A BULAWAYO woman has dragged controversial Bikita West Member of Parliament, Munyaradzi Kereke  to court for allegedly neglecting his two-year-old daughter.
Leocardia Gona, approached the Bulawayo Maintenance Court to be granted an order compelling the former advisor to retired Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Gideon Gono, to provide support towards the upkeep of his daughter.
The matter was filed with the court under case number M901/14.

Gona is gainfully employed by Daro Distributors which is based in Bulawayo.

According to the court documents, the matter is set to be heard on April 14.

In her summons Gona demanded a monthly maintenance fee of $1 000 which she said was enough to cover all the required expenses for the child.
"I am seeking maintenance for the child from the respondent in terms of Maintenance Act (Chapter 5:09) to cover school fees, groceries, medical expenses, clothing rent among other expenses. The respondent is the responsible person legally liable to maintain the under mentioned dependent (the child) and I wish to claim a monthly maintenance of $1 000," Gona said as part of her submissions.
Gona further submitted that Kereke was capable of contributing $1000 per month since he was a wealthy man.
"I am employed at Daro Distributors and earn $500 per month. The respondent is a man of means who is legally liable or should be able to pay $1 000 per month since he is a doctor of economics, businessman and MP who approximately earns over $20 000 per month," she said.
