African Union (AU) and SADC Chairman, President Robert Mugabe has met with the visiting President of Madagascar, Mr Heri Rajaonarimampianina at State House in Harare this Thursday evening.
Mr Rajaonarimampianina jetted into Harare to brief President Mugabe on the latest developments in his country, following attempts by parliament to impeach him.
The Madagascar parliament on Tuesday voted overwhelmingly for the dismissal of the Indian Ocean island leader for alleged constitutional violations and what they called general incompetence.
President Rajaonarimampianina took over power in January 2014 following the holding of the first democratic elections in the Indian Ocean island since 2006.
The island had been plunged into chaos in 2009 when Rajaonarimampianina's predecessor, Marc Ravalomanana was ousted in a coup by Andry Rajoelina who briefly served as Madagascar's transitional president in 2009 and helped to get the president elected two years ago.
On Tuesday, Rajoelina joined forces with Ravalomanana's camp to vote against the incumbent leader.
The Madagascari president was accompanied to state house by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi and Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
