Mujuru's ZimPF apologies to 'recycled deadwood' Dabengwa

Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) has apologised to Zapu leader Dumiso Dabengwa after one of its official in Bulawayo labelled Dabengwa as "recycled deadwood".
Dabengwa was last weekend re-elected as party leader.
ZimPF Bulawayo provincial spokesperson, Geneva Sibanda's alleged remarks ignited a verbal showdown with Zapu deputy spokesperson Iphithule Maphosa who described the utterances as offensive.
Sibanda is alleged to have likened Dabengwa's recent re-election as Zapu leader to "galvanising old retreaded tyres", suggesting that the former Zipra intelligence supremo had outlived his political usefulness.
ZimPF has moved in to mend relations and issued an apology.

For the record, Sibanda's statement was unsanctioned by ZimPF.
In as much as Sibanda is free to hold personal opinions, it has been brought to his attention that his conduct in this instance was unbecoming of a leader and must never be repeated.
ZimPF has tasked the local party leadership to personally convey our unreserved apology to Zapu and Dr Dabengwa, who we regard highly for his service to this nation for the past five decades.
He is a true icon and living legend in the struggle of Zimbabweans for true democracy.
ZimPF takes this opportunity to reaffirm our support and congratulations to Zapu, the founder and authentic liberation movement of Zimbabwe, for a successful, peaceful and exemplary congress, and wish to assure them of our commitment in working side-by-side with other opposition forces to deliver a prosperous, just and democratic Zimbabwe at the next elections.
Thank you.
