Duo jailed ten months for assault

Two men from Bhalagwe village in Maphisa have been slapped with 12 months in jail for assaulting a villager accusing him of spreading lies that they were thieves.
The two Lawrence Ndlovu (23) and Njabulo Khumalo (19) were denying the assault charge when they appeared before Kezi magistrate Arafat Kozanai.
He sentenced them to 12 months and suspended two months for good behaviour.
The court heard that on September 1 this year at 8pm the two went to the complainant's home where they accused him of gossiping that they were thieves.
They pounced on him with logs and beat him up injuring him on the arm in the process.
The matter was reported to the police leading to their arrest.
