Man bashed over prostitute

A Gwanda man who assaulted another man over a prostitute has been fined $200 by a Gwanda magistrate.
Gladman Mpofu (28) appeared before Mr Arafat Kozanai for assaulting Mr Douglas Moyo from Zvishavane.
Mpofu pleaded not guilty but was convicted and fined $200 or 3 months in prison.
On 24 August this year at around 2pm, the complainant Mr Moyo was drinking beer at Cry Mantengwane Sports Bar in Phakama area.
When Mr Moyo was leaving after his drinks, he was approached by two prostitutes who then asked for a lift to Gwanda Town.
Mr Moyo accepted to offer the two ladies a lift. However, before driving off, Mpofu approached one of the ladies who were already in the car asking to take her for a night but his request was turned away.
Mr Moyo then told Mpofu that he wanted to drive away and this did not go down well with Mpofu and a misunderstanding ensued between the two men.
Mpofu started assaulting Mr Moyo by hitting him several times all over the body and once on the mouth with a clenched fist.
In the process, Mr Moyo lost his front tooth.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Mpofu's arrest.
Mr Moyo was referred to the hospital for medical examination.
