2 hrs ago | Views
Two suspected rapist brothers from Churu Farm, Glen View in Harare, who would invade homes and rape teenagers, have been taken to court.
Simon Madhongo (35) and Itai Madhongo appeared separately before Harare magistrate Mrs Tildah Mazhande charged with four counts of rape.
They were remanded in custody to December 2 pending finalisation of investigations.
Prosecutor Mr Lancelot Mutsokoti alleged that on November 17, Itai went to the complainant's house aged 16 and told her that he was a robber and captured her parents and wanted to know where money was kept in the house.
He asked the complainant to go outside so that she could show him how to unlock the parked car.
Itai then took the complainant to the paddocks owned by Harare City Council near Churu Farm, where he raped her without protection.
On November 7, Itai unlawfully entered a house where the complainant aged 16 was sleeping.
He forced her out of the house at gunpoint while threatening to kill her.
The court heard that Itai allegedly led her to a field near Emmanuel Private Primary School and raped her.
In another case, Simon allegedly went into another complainant's house who is aged 14, where he went directly to the spare bedroom where she was sleeping with her twin sister.
He ordered her to follow him outside where he raped her ordering her not to scream or disclose the act to anyone, before ordering her to go back home.
On another count, Simon got into a complainant's bedroom at around 1am where he raped her without protection.
He used a gun to threaten her if she resisted.
According to the police, the two brothers are likely to face more charges as some of the complainants are presently writing Ordinary Level examinations and cannot come for an identification parade.
