A 36-YEAR-OLD woman has been condemned to two years in prison for stealing property worth over $3 000 from outgoing Home Affairs Minister Kembo Mohadi's Mazunga Lodge where she had been employed as a maid.
Sibusisiwe Mbedzi, who resides in Headman Siyoka's area in Mfanyana village, went on a thieving spree between April and August this year.
Some of the stolen property include paint, bed linen, two beds, doors, food, empty buckets, fencing wire, Mopani worms and stock feeds.
Mbedzi was convicted on her own plea of guilt to a charge of theft when she appeared before Beitbridge provincial magistrate Ms Gwineth Drawo.
She will, however, serve an effective two years after the magistrate conditionally suspended one year.
Prosecutor Mr Tavonga Musina told the court that Mbedzi was employed at the lodge where among other things her duties included cooking and housekeeping.
