A PROSTITUTE stunned her client - an alleged armed robber - in Victoria Falls when she reported him to the police after seeing him with a gun.
Emmanuel Chirongo, 28, a former soldier resident at number 7624 Zimre Park Phase two, Ruwa, appeared before Victoria Falls magistrate, Sharon Rosemani on Monday facing six counts of unlawful entry into premises and armed robbery as defined in section 131 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
Chirongo was remanded in custody to December 20.
On being remanded, Chirongo asked Rosemani: "Why do you continue remanding me, when is the case going to be heard?"
The magistrate replied: "This court cannot hear your matter because of counts five and six (armed robbery and handling of a weapon). We have no jurisdiction and therefore you need to apply to the High Court for bail or get a lawyer to get the consent from the Attorney General's office."
According to the State papers, on November 7, this year at about 6.30pm, Chirongo, an ex-soldier who has also served five years in prison for armed robbery and unlawful entry, went to Kudakwashe Ashely Collin Chigoma (Victoria Falls Deputy Sheriff) house at number 214 Sopers Cresent, cut the window gauze wire using a scissors and gained entry into the house.
He ransacked the house and stole different clothing items, packed them in two bags and placed them outside the house.
During his search, Chirongo came across a set of keys in a jacket in the wardrobe and used them to open a gun cabinet and stole a Star pistol serial number 1386891 with a magazine and 17x9mm rounds of ammunition.
On the same day, at around 6.35pm, at house number 215 Sopers Cresent, Chirongo broke into Lulu Rumbidzai's house and got away with a Sony Ericson 300i cellphone, a black Nokia 5100 cell- phone valued at $90.
On the same day he went to a night club in Chinotimba suburb where he hired a prostitute and the two went together to her lodgings where Chirongo paid her $10 for her services.
The court heard that the prostitute heard a corking sound and asked him what it was and he told her that it was a gun and that he was a government employee.
The two returned to the night club and the lady of the night went to a police post near the place and reported him.
When the police arrived at the place Chirongo had left the night club.
On the same day at around 2am along an unnamed road in Chinotimba, Chirongo allegedly robbed, at gun point, another prostitute of $26 as she made her way home from the night club.
He also robbed another prostitute of $2 and went back to the night club.
After being robbed, the prostitute went back to the night club where she identified Chirongo before the police were called in leading to his arrest.
The total value of stolen property was $4,475 and property recovered was $3,295.
