Herdman rapes mentally ill neighbour while her kids watch

A 37-year-old mentally unstable Bulilima woman was raped by a 25-year old herdman as her  three children aged between three and five years watched.

The headman - Samson Moyo said that was to heal her from insanity.

Moyo, who is employed in Figtree, upon his arrest, claimed that he had received a vision during his sleep where he was assigned to sleep with the complainant in order to heal her.

Moyo appeared on initial remand before Plumtree magistrate Gideon Ruvetsa facing rape charges.

He was remanded in custody to 2 July.

The court  heard that Moyo broke into his victim's bedroom hut around 11pm on 20 April while she was asleep with the three children.

While inside the hut Moyo started fondling the woman's body and he joined her in her blankets.

 He then undressed and took off the victim's clothes and raped her once and fled the scene.

According to Sunday News, the rape  was discovered when the woman was quizzed by her brother who noticed some shoe prints within the yard.

The woman told her brother what had transpired and a report was made to the police.

He said Moyo who had fled from his workplace was arrested recently.
