Villager destroys neighbour's house, loots property

A MAN from Fort Rixon area in Matabeleland South allegedly pounced at his neighbours' home  and destroyed two roomed house worth $550 before looting hardware property worth $170.

This was heard by Bulawayo magistrate Isheunesu Matova when Joseph Gumbo (37) appeared before the court charged with malicious damage to property and theft. He was not asked to plead to the charges and was remanded out of custody to June 10 for trial.

The court heard that on November 6, 2014 at 11am Gumbo went to Shepherd Ndlovu's home when he was away and destroyed a two roomed house worth $550. He then allegedly loaded two window frames into a truck and drove away but was later noticed by a neighbour Tenson Mukanya who informed the owner on his return.

Ndlovu then made a report to the police leading to Gumbo's arrest.
