'We're getting ridiculous water bills'

21 Jan 2017 at 13:21hrs | Views
Exorbitant water bills by ZINWA have caused serious havoc in the small town of Mvurwi in Mashonaland Central province.

The meters used are now dilapidated from 1980s and the amount charged for water is just ridiculous ranging from US$25 to US$40 monthly.

It is my wish to join hence with fellow residents in shunning such dubious and day light robbery especially with the residents association that is facing a lot of criticism in my area from the local council.

I hope the responsible authority will give in to our plea before we take legal action because charging $40 per month for water is ridiculous since we have the right to water.

The trend has been going on for over a year and especially this rain season we use little water but the charges are still high.

Following the once published story by this publication on water rights being violated in Mvurwi it is my wish that ZINWA provides decent service to the consumers and strive to give quality services not to charge exorbitant prices.

It is also astonishing to note that consumers are forced to buy water meters at around $75 in this harsh economic.

"Surely a poor men's wisdom is never recognised, l feel no proper justice is being taken by ZINWA to alleviate the plight of consumers."
