Zimbabwe First Party President Dr Zeb Maxwell Shumba suspended

The Zimbabwe First Party an opposition political party has suspended its President Mr Zeb Maxwell Shumba who happens to be the founder of the party on allegations of being incompetent.

The National Executive Council agreed to suspend the President for a period not exceeding six months pending termination from the party.

The executive cited dictatorial tendencies,  attitude, misdirection and indiscriminate hiring and firing of pivotal ZimFirst staff as alleged by the suspension letter. The National Council and the party also noted with growing concern that Mr Shumba wilful violation of the party constitution of which he damaged party's image and reputation by defamatory name calling of other party principles,  direct attacks on opposition parties and a consistent regressive attitude incongruent with party objectives.

As a result of such misconducts the National Executive Council resolved to suspend Dr Shumba amid a growing realization that Dr Maxwell Shumba is not a registered voter who has been in Zimbabwe less than five times since the registration of the party. The National Council also noted that Dr Shumba cannot provide clarity or his citizenship status and has no intention of honouring the hard work of his party members as proved by the fact that he has not registered to vote. Furthermore lack of accountability of party funds directly violates the ZimFirst party motto which reads Accountability,  Honesty and Unity.

These issues and more have forced the National Executive Council to deny or withdraw from Dr Shumba the endorsement to stand as Zimbabwe First Party Presidential Candidate. For the wellbeing of the party the National Executive Council has therefore categorically and due diligence suspended Dr Shumba with immediate effect read the statement.

It also announced the following appointments for the interim committee, which will set the party on the right course.

Mr Derek Lupemba who was the party's Vice President has been elevated to the President's post of ZimFirst party. The post of Vice President has been reserved for a female candidate and adequate appointments will be given to party member who shall be groomed for the post.  Mr GS Mungani assumes the role of the Secretary General while the National Chairperson will be assumed by Mr T Chihombori. The Nagionat Youth Chairperson will be Lovejoy Ngara and National Women's Chair will be  Ms P Chamunorwa.

The Treasurer General will be Bishop G Gwanzura, the National Organising Secretary will be Mr O Masango and the party Spokesman will be Mr K Chitsora.

In the letter the National Executive Council said that they would like the voters and supporters to know that Zimbabwe First Party respects the work of other principals in their efforts to unite all the opposition political parties and that they will pledge their support and part in working together to form a formidable grand coalition.  He went on to say that they respect and value all efforts towards a stronger Zimbabwe starting with participation in coalition of democrats.
