Chikwata bounced back into the top-flight league through financial muscle after they bought Eagles franchise. The club sunk into the unfashionable world of Division One in 2006 when Lindile Dube, the then coach, failed to save the Saints' sinking ship.
Apart from losing midfield maestro Simon Munawa to Highlanders, the return of two of their sons Mtshumayeli Moyo and Mthulisi Maphosa will boost morale for Chikwata. Moyo and Maphosa spent last year in DR Congo, turning out for FC Lupopo and TP Mazembe respectively.
Saints' have experienced players from last season in captain Skhumbuzo Banda, Heritani Masuku, and Guide Goddard who played in the premiership at some stage.
The club has signed Samuel Gadzikwa and Morris Kadzura from Shooting Stars. Saints were one of the country's four best supported clubs in the eighties and nineties, producing top notch players like Henry McKop, Ephraim Chawanda, Ronald Sibanda, Innocent Rwodzi, Chipo Tsodzo and Sawu.
