Referee runs for dear life
15 Jul 2012 at 07:18hrs | Views
Magwegwe Pirates 1 - 0 Zimplow (Match Abandoned)
Julius Ceasar would have risen from his grave today as his Comedy of Errors novel was matched if not bettered by Zimplow Football Club who decided to throw away their scoring boots and farming implements and put on Boxing Gloves.
The referee had to run for dear life as Zimplow players and officials felt aggrieved by an offside call when they were in the hunt for an equaliser. The home side had to offer refuge for the hapless referee as the away side bayed for his blood. The poor referee had no option but to call off the match with Magwegwe Pirates leading Zimplow 1-0.
In other results today Old Nic Mine continued with their steady rise to the apex of the log with a 3-1 win over young FMH Academy at the Municipals. East Rovers shocked ZRP Byo Province 1-0 at the East Grounds as Byo Jumbos were 2-1 away victors to Portland Cement.
Pumula North got a point away to free falling Rainbow Hotel at Mpopoma High with a spirited 2-2 draw. Highlanders also recorded an impressive 2-0 win away to the Prison Officers at Khami Maximum Prison as Ajax Hotspurs mantained their winning streak with a 2-1 victory to Zim Leopards. By the time of going to press, the results of NRZ Tigers and CCDF were not yet in.
