Bosso membership cards finally available for diaspora fans
02 Aug 2012 at 13:56hrs | Views
The long wait is over. Pursuant to perpetual requests and enquiries, from Highlanders FC's plethora of diasporan fans, for membership cards to be made available to them, the official South African based representatives of Bosso working closely with the current Bosso administration have come up with innovative membership options that are designed to suit every Bosso fan out there.
By way of background information, one would recall that the South Africa based Bosso representatives flew Bosso to Ellis Park stadium in July 2011, booked them at a hotel generally used by Bafana Bafana and arranged their game against Bloemfontein Celtics, in which Bosso pocketed over R150 000. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that when the current coach arrived at Bosso, the first thing he requested urgently was a supply of high quality soccer balls that he needed to start his training programme, and, the South African representatives immediately arranged for the supply of these high calibre balls (similar in standard to the ones that had been used in the Euro Champions League, supplied by Adidas) per the coach's request. The rest as they say is history, as the team immediately shot to the top of the league and has sat there ever since. This should encourage every Bosso fan out there that it takes a very small step (.e.g. buying membership) to achieve a giant leap, to paraphrase Neil Amstrong.
The hi-tech machine-readable membership cards for various categories of membership have finally been completed and will go on sale with immediate effect in order to complement and supplement Highlanders' high-flying performance in the league.
Membership for the diaspora supporters , available primarily from South Africa, but, to be extended to cover the global Bosso fans, will be split into three categories. The first category (Platinum membership) will be for life members only. Platinum (Life) membership grants such members the right to vote in any Bosso elections , allows members to stand for office in any capacity through an election. A life member becomes a member for the duration of such member's life.
The second category (Gold) is the ordinary annual membership which grants such member the right to vote at any Bosso election, entitles such member the right to stand for election , among other numerous benefits. Such membership is renewable annually.
The third category (Silver) is for all other Bosso supporters who want to be recognised as official card-carrying supporters. This category grants such member the right to organise Bosso related activities in association with relevant authorities, organise fund raising activities, initiate ideas for the development of the Bosso brand , inter alia. But does not allow such a member to stand for office or to vote at an annual general meeting. This is a card designed for the multitude of Bosso supporters who want to show that they are not just Bosso supporters by empty words but have documentary proof of such membership. Through this category of membership, Highlanders FC seeks to monetise, i.e. turn its huge support base into capital that can be used to develop and further the programmes of the team.
Moreover, work is already in progress whereby the aforementioned cards could be used in future by fans to purchase tickets for games right at the beginning of the season. This could trigger competition and ensure that Bosso games are fully subscribed at anyone season. If there are Bosso fans who own information technology companies and they want participate in this initiative are welcome to come on board.
The roll-out of membership and the marketing drive to help fans to acquire membership will be intensified up to the end of the season. A significant growth in membership will ensure that Bosso gets the necessary revenue in order to seal its current leadership position in the league competition. It is worth emphasising from the onset that all revenue generated from membership subscriptions will be for the benefit of Highlanders FC in toto.
In recognition of this latest development regarding Bosso membership, the Booysens Hotel in Johannesburg has offered to host all Bosso card carrying members every Saturday, where they can meet , arrange to watch televised games, network in general, or make suggestions and other initiatives towards adding value to the Bosso brand. This is a facility Booysens Hotel has offered and Bosso members will be given first preference at any one time. This will be a centre for those visiting from abroad or from Zim to meet and interact with SA based Bosso supporting members. Membership cards will be made available at Booysens Hotel to those who want to purchase them.
Meanwhile, ForexWorld, a Sandton-based registered authorised dealer in foreign exchange has tentatively agreed to offer distribution services for Bosso membership cards through its various outlets around Johannesburg. ForexWorld is working on a similar exercise for Kaiser Chiefs FC. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if there are Bosso fans out there who have businesses and they want to use their businesses as outlets for distributing membership cards, such members should contact the relevant persons via the e-mail provided hereunder: snyanga@gmail.com
