Soccer Fixtures: Week 7

Chicken Inn 1-0 Zim Saints,
Motor Action 2-0 Caps Utd,
FC Platinum 1-0 Blue Ribbon,
Kiglon 0-0 Shabanie,
4 games played, 3 home wins and 1 non scoring draw, just four goals scored.
WINNERS
Motor Action the biggest winners as with that win they displaced Caps utd at the top of the log. The mighty bulls have not lost in their last two games.
From their seven games, they have lost once, drawn once and won the other five games. It is their defence that has impressed, conceding just one goal in that 1-0 defeat at the hands of Shooting Stars.
The key to that defence has been the towering goalkeeper Marlon Jani, and the four men defence of twin centre backs Reuben Machaya and Themba Ndlovu , as well as the wing backs Ocean Mushure on the left and Godfrey Moyo on the right, together with Isaac Masame or Edward Tembo playing a good holding midfielder role. They are simple on a fine run as the champions.
Chicken Inn returned to winning ways at home to Zim saints in this Bulawayo derby, after their first defeat away at Caps utd last week. It was not the best of performances, in actual fact Saints played better football but could not find the net.
Chicken Inn had to thank a poor decision by the referee very early in the second half to award a free kick to them, and former Sundowns player Brain Mbiriri slotted the free kick home just from just outside the box. With the win chicken inn are unbeaten at home, having played all their home games at luveve at stadium.
FC Platinum maintained their fine run under caretaker coach Philani Mabhena.
He took charge since the death of head coach Benjamin Moyo. In six games they have played they have suffered one defeat, away to Dynamos.
They are unbeaten in their last three games, unbeaten since the death of their head coach, and for Mabhena its three out of three.
Will he be confirmed as head coach? Well it looks like former Bosso and warriors coach Rahman Gumbo is headed for that one.
Mabhena was once at Bosso, although he joined FC platinum from Chicken Inn, where he assisted Philani Ncube in taking Chicken Inn to the Premiership.
The late Benjie was at Bosso as well at some stage. As if this is not enough the goalkeepers trainer Peter Nkomo is ex Bosso, as well as former Bosso players Mernard Mupera, Brighton Dube, and the Ngodzo brothers Zeph and Joel.
It is a mini Bosso doing well in zvishavane. They have played a game less, should they win that game, Fc Platinum, will go top of the log. That game is away to gunners, as of today they move to third position.
LOSERS
Zimbabwe saints played without a natural right back and had to use striker Abraham Mbaiwa in that role.
They need to start converting the half chances that come their way. It was their first defeat in four games.
Although still unbeaten at home, it was the first time they lost a game in Bulawayo this season. Their next match at home match when they face Dynamos is likely to be at BF, it will be the first time they use BF, and will have to start picking maximum points at home, it will be the fifth game in a row, that they have played in Bulawayo, and have managed 5 points from the four of those games.
It will be of interest how former Dembare players Munyaradzi Diya, Philip Sithole, Tafadzwa Maingire, Danisa Phiri and Leo Kurauzvione will perform in that particular game.
Caps utd are proving to be inconsistent with a second defeat of the season in seven games. It is simple not a championship winning run.
The brilliant opening three games seem to be running out. They host inform FC Platinum in their next game and then travel to Bulawayo to face Bosso. These two games will be crucial in reviving their championship campaign.
Blue Ribbon under the guidance of Misheck Chidzabwa opened their four games unbeaten, but have now lost their last three games, although they play as a team, it is interesting that they have lost the last three games with an identical 1-0 margin, with two of those away from home.
The non scoring draw was a good one for Shabanie as they move to four points and picked a point away from home for the first time, not very bad for Kiglon as well, as it means they are unbeaten in their last two games, although they would have wanted a win at home.
SUNDAY FIXTURES
Highlanders vs Black Mambas
Bosso welcome back Peter and Mandida Ndlovu at BF. Both are now at Black Mambas, the bigger picture will be how the performance of Peter, will he shine?
The other Ndlovu brother, Adam will not only be watching, but taking notes as he is now assistant coach at Chicken Inn. Bosso likely to win this one, they are unbeaten in their last four league games, although they have one win at home.
They also need to watch out for Mambas player, Abbas Amidu, has scored two goals. Mambas have won just once coming into this game.
Dynamos vs Monoz
After destroying Masvingo 5-1, Dembare are likely to win this one, as they continue with their revival. They however face a very stubborn Monoz. Although they have one win, and suffered one defeat, Monoz have forced four draws in the process, so don't be surprised if there is a draw tomorrow at Rufaro.
Hwange vs Shooting stars
I watched Hwange lose to Shabanie at Maglas last week. They are yet to win a game this season, but are undefeated at home, and have lost twice away, and drawn four.
They need to start scoring, as they have scored just three goals so far this season. I see Hwange winning for the first time this season, as they face a team that has won once and lost the rest of the five games.
Masvingo vs Gunners
Masvingo lost for the first time to Dynamos last week and need to recover quickly and I predict a win for them at home.
Gunners are not at their best, they are yet to win this season after opening with two draws and losing their last three games. They have in the process scored just a single goal. Away from the capital, it will be difficult.
