Shoniwa takes over from Masunda at Lafarge

Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe last week announced that Johnathan Shoniwa, currently the managing director, will take over from Muchadeyi Ashton Masunda at the end of the year.
Bulawayo born Masunda, who has completed his ten year term as chairman, will step down as non-exec chairman at the end of the year and Shoniwa will start on January 1, 2014.
However, Masunda will remain on the board as non-executive director.
Shoniwa is a Chartered Certified Accountant and he holds a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from the University of Zimbabwe. He is a registered public accountant with the Pubclic Accountants and Auditors Board of Zimbabwe. He has extensive and solid years of working experience at senior managerial and executive level in the finance field. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, risk management, budgeting, financial reporting, auditing and raising working capital finance.
He has worked for Zimbabwe Stock Exchange listed companies like Chemco Holdings, Innscor Africa Limited and BAT Zimbabwe in senior finance positions and is well conversant of organizational financial and operations issues.
Shoniwa will be replaced by Mrs Amal Tantawy who is currently the group vice president for strategy, development, mergers & acquisitions in Paris, France.
