Fletcher High School headmaster in Gweru is under fire from parents who accuse him of fraudulently procuring a second hand bus claiming it to be brand new.

The bus was bought in 2012 at a cost of $208 000.

Parents claim that the headmaster, Mr Stephen Njini misrepresented the facts, claiming the Scania bus that was bought at a cost of $208 000 was brand new when in actual fact it was second hand.

The parents have documents from Scanlink to prove their allegations.

$208 000 was enough to buy a top of the range bus, the parents argue.

Documents availed to the ZBC News show that the bus was assembled in 2010.

Another civilian bus that was also bought by the school at a cost of $21 000 is now also at the centre of controversy.

While the school claims to have documents to prove that the Scania bus was brand new when it was bought, it however failed to give a satisfactory answer over the purchase of a civilian bus.

The headmaster, Mr Njini also stands accused of maladministration of school funds.

According to records that ZBC News is in possession of, the civilian school bus was fuelled on the 16th of April last year with 300 litres of diesel for a journey to Bulawayo.

Mr Njini referred all questions to the Midlands Provincial Education Director.

The Provincial Education Director, Mrs Agness Gudo said the ministry has since dispatched a team of auditors to the school to look into the issues raised by parents.

Efforts to get clarification from Scanlink where the school purchased the bus were fruitless.
