A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy miraculously escaped death when his grandmother swiftly jumped and rescued him from a rolling car, which was involved in an accident.
The accident occurred at the corner of Cecil Avenue and Old Esigodini Road in Bulawayo at about 7.30AM on Monday.
The boy's grandmother, Lingiwe Mangisi, a newspaper vendor told Chronicle that she grabbed her grandson Blessed Mangisi to safety after a Honda Fit and Mercedes Benz had collided.
She said the Honda Fit overturned and rolled four times.
"I just heard a loud bang and before I could understand what was happening I saw a car rolling towards our direction and I quickly grabbed my grandson to safety," she told the newspaper.
Mangisi said she had just arrived at her vending site when the accident happened.
When news crew visited the accident scene, the driver of the Honda Fit had already been rushed to hospital.
Witnesses identified him as Mgcini and they said he was bleeding through the mouth.
The driver of the Mercedes Benz, Makhosi Ndlovu said Mgcini failed to give him the right of way when he had already driven through the intersection.
"I was already in the middle of the intersection when he (Mgcini) failed to stop because he was speeding. He swerved to my left and then right before our cars collided resulting in his car overturning," he said.
Ndlovu's Mercedes Benz was slightly damaged. The Honda Fit was extensively damaged.
