Zanu-PF's candidate for Makokoba Constituency in Bulawayo, Retired Colonel Tshinga Dube says he is confident of winning the seat for the ruling party in the June 10 by-elections.

Retired Colonel Dube, who has made two attempts to win the seat in 2008 and 2013, is confident that the third attempt will bear fruit.

Retired Colonel Dube will battle it out with Mable Ngwenya of the NCA, Wilson Peter of Mavambo Kusile Dawn, Sibangilizwe Msipa an independent, Joan Dhlodlo an independent, Jonathan Ndlovu of ZAPU and Sehlelo Nkomo of Transform Zimbabwe.

Zanu-PF's Dube said he has now realised the mistakes that the party was making in the previous elections such as concentrating campaigns on members, adding that such errors have been corrected.

Since the election of MDC legislators in the city, there has not been any progress with companies either closing or relocating, leaving thousands of people jobless, said Dube.

Dube's campaign trail is expected to culminate in the handing of a bus to Highlanders Football Club at Babourfields Stadium.

Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officiate at the event.
