A MARRIED 74-year-old Mberengwa man allegedly broke into his 72-year-old neighbour's bedroom hut, throttled her and raped her for almost six hours, a court heard.
The old man, the court heard, even forced the granny to perform different sexual positions for his pleasure.
Wereni Chandavengerwa of Matoka Village in Mberengwa appeared before regional magistrate Collet Ncube facing charges of unlawful entry into premises and rape.
Ncube remanded Chandavengerwa out of custody to December 21 for continuation of trial.
Chandavengerwa denied the allegations saying the woman made up the allegations to fix him.
"Your worship I'm a married man. Why would I want to rape this woman? She hates me and that's why she's falsely accusing me of raping her. I didn't go to her house," he said.
The granny told the court that before the rape, Chandavengerwa came to her homestead and declared that he would sleep with her that night.
"He came to my homestead and refused to leave saying he wanted to sleep at my home but I chased him away and told him that it wasn't possible," she said.
She said that on the fateful day, she was sleeping when she heard Chandavengerwa struggling to break down the door.
She said he kept at it and succeeded on the third attempt.
The woman told the court that when Chandavengerwa got in, he started whispering in her ear.
"He then throttled me to stop me from screaming before raping me.
Prosecuting, Andrew Marimo told the court that on November 22 last year at around midnight, Chandavengerwa went to the 72- year-old woman's homestead.
"Chandavengerwa allegedly broke down the locked door and gained entry into the woman's bedroom hut. He then went on to choke the complainant and covered her mouth with his hands to stop her from screaming," said Marimo.
He told the court that Chandavengerwa then undressed the old woman and forcefully had sex with her without her consent and without using protection.
Marimo said Chandavengerwa allegedly raped the woman all night and asked her to perform different sexual positions.
The court heard that Chandavengerwa only left the compalinant's homestead in the morning.
