A MUTARE woman's bid to get a protection order against her hubby backfired after her husband revealed in court that she had grabbed his private parts when they had a domestic scuffle.
Manica Post reported that all this was revealed when Nomatter Matsenyengwa had approached the Mutare Civil Courts seeking for a protection order against her husband, Tendai Nyakonga whom she described as a violent person who always felt that he had to disturb her peaceful life.
In defence, Nyakonga told the court that his wife was the one who usually provokes him by grabbing his private parts and belittling him in the process.
"Of course, I assaulted her with electric cables, but it was only after she had provoked me with her disrespectful actions. She grabbed my private parts and pulled them, something that made me feel pain and less manly. "Out of anger and pain, I pulled an electric cable that we use as a power pack for our computer and thrashed her with it since she was pulling my private parts. I do not see any reason why she has to seek the court's intervention since she started it all." Matsenyengwa had told the court that Nyakonga was in the habit of assaulting her using electric cables and harassing her in public.
"I have had enough of my husband's violent nature. He harasses me in public," she said. Mrs Chigodora granted the protection order to Matsanyengwa which bars Nyakonga from assaulting, harassing and disturbing her peace.
She, however, warned Matsenyengwa against the pulling of her husband's private parts as it was evident that the action had provoked Nyakonga and resulted in her getting assaulted.
