The director in the office of the Minister of State for Mash East.Mugwisi has officially commissioned a housing project that is being developed by Kadoma Land Development Company and Chikomba Town Council.

According to Masvingo Mirror Kadoma Land Development is in partnership with Chikomba Rural District Council to develop 30 hectares of Highview Extension, a residential suburb to the West of the town.

Mugwisi represented the Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs minister, Ambrose Mutinhiri at the opening which took place on Thursday last week.

Mugwisi commended Chikomba District Administrator (DA) Clemence Masawi for the initiative to forge a partnership with a private company and ensure that residents get an opportunity to get accommodation.

"We have several other private companies that intend to partner us in serving the residential area and Kadoma Land Development is only the first to be approved. It is our duty as council to provide homes to our residents hence some partnerships with private companies," said Chikomba RDC Chief Executive Officer Luckson Mutara.

The company will start servicing the area, with sewer, water, electricity and roads. Surveying is in progress. 728 stands have been planned for a high density residential suburb.

Kadoma Land Development chairman, Kurauone Dube said he will work hard to make sure that the area is serviced at the shortest possible time so that people can start constructing their houses.

"We hope to be complete servicing the area in eight months' time. We are targeting low income earners; hence our low payment rates of $50 to $100 per month. Shelter is a right to everyone. Therefore, we accommodate everyone who has a dream to own a house, in fulfilment of ZimAsset.
