Roadblocks to take plastic money

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is set to introduce swipe machines to traffic police in line with government directive of promoting the use of plastic money insiders have confirmed.
According to an insider, traffic cops are currently being trained in Harare to use point of sale machines following the minister of Home Affairs' remarks in November.
Chombo said plans to computerise the Zimbabwe Republic Police's (ZRP) operations, including management of roadblocks, were at an advanced stage, with the government set to sign a multi-million dollar public-private partnership (PPP) deal in the next two months.
"The Minister's words have finally come to pass we have traffic officers who are being trained to use swipe machines at roadblocks a move meant to embrace plastic money.
"I am not sure of the specific date when the training will be over," said the source.
