A SEX worker from Bulawayo allegedly stole property worth more than $9 000 from two clients and from a shop in the city.

Police allegedly recovered at least 25 stolen cellphones from Itai Muzambi (23) following her arrest.

Muzambi, from Entumbane suburb, allegedly connived with her boyfriend Xolani Ncube and broke into Cellular Centre shop in Bulawayo where they stole laptops and cell-phones.

A court heard she also stole $237 from a client.

Muzambi allegedly stole a Samsung Galaxy Note cellphone and an Itel cellphone worth $500 from another client after he fell asleep.

Muzambi pleaded guilty to one count of theft before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Nyarai Ringisai.

She pleaded not guilty to theft, unlawful entry into premises, theft and being found in possession of property suspected to be stolen.

Ms Ringisai remanded her in custody to October 25 for sentencing.

Prosecuting, Mr Charles Danda said on July 27, a salesman from Lobels, Mr Vutani Sibanda, hired Muzambi for her services.

"The two sat inside Sibanda's car and when he fell asleep, Muzambi stole his Samsung Galaxy phone and an Itel cell-phone worth $500," he said.

"On August 16, Mr Chuma Mulaki Lackson (61) hired her for the night and booked a place at Gaka Lodge. During the night Muzambi woke up, took Mr Lackson's phone and stole $237 from his Eco-Cash account. She transferred the money to another phone," Mr Danda said.

He said on August 12 at midnight, Muzambi and Ncube cut the lock on a door at Cellular Centre shop at the Old Mutual Building where they stole laptops and cellphones worth $6 655.

Muzambi said she did not steal the phones from her client but he gave them to her.

"He gave me the phones for safe keeping as he felt sleepy," she said.

Last year, Muzambi allegedly looted property worth $1 688 from a senior Government official after his failure to pay her for sex services rendered following a romp at his matrimonial home in Bulawayo.

Muzambi, who took the goods from Raymond Nyandoro, a principal town planning officer in the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing stationed at Mhlahlandlela offices in the city, was acquitted of unlawful entry and theft charges.

She had taken a Plasma TV, DVD, laptop, blankets, two cellphones, a comforter, men's and women's clothes, shoes, a wrist watch, suitcase, a Kenwood speaker, 3kg of meat and a gas stove including its cables and tanks.

At the time, court records indicated that she was 25-years-old.
