The MDC-T has declared that it was a key player in the historic demonstration that led to the fall of former President Robert Mugabe.
Party secretary general Douglas Mwonzora said through it's MPs it was an active participant in the attempts to impeach the dictator.
"The MDC-T did this because it was in the national interest. However contrary to rumours going around the MDC-T is not part to any discussions about forming a GNU. The MDC-T made it clear that it wants a Transition Mechanism to redress the grinding poverty afflicting Zimbabwe. It has to deal with creation of conditions for free and fair elections," he said.
"These elections have to be supervised by the United Nations. We insist that the Security Services must establish concrete mechanisms for the total elimination of all forms of violence and intimidation before, during and after elections. In line with the constitution we demand that the Security Services including the army must not play any part in the electoral processes except the maintainance of law and order. No Zimbabwean citizen must be disenfranchised. We further demand the unconditional release of all political prisoners including Yvonne Musarurwa, Tungamirai Madzokere and Last Maengahama."
He said the MDC-T wishes to make it clear that it will not be interested in an arrangement that leads to the comfort of a few individuals.
"Rather it is only interested in an arrangement that benefits the majority of Zimbabweans. We insist that elections must be held when they are constitutionally due between 22 July and 22 August 2018. We urge all Zimbabweans to register to vote. After all what is important is to change the system. This is the time to unite. Together we will win. Victory is Certain," he said.
