Two motorist cheated death on
Sunday when an overloaded Concession bound goods train rolled back for
kilometres before crashing two cars and derailing in the process.
Mashonaland Central acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Petros Masikati confirmed the accident.
"I can confirm that an overloaded goods train crashed with two cars at level crossing in Glendale, the motorists' escapes with minor injuries but the vehicles (a Toyota Wish and Toyota Camry) were damaged beyond recognition," said Masikati.
It is alleged the train driver lost
control of the train and it started reversing, when it was reversing the
driver was hooting to give a warning to other road users.
Masikati urged motorists to observe traffic road signs in order to avoid road accidents.
"We urge motorists to observe traffic road signs and to only proceed railway lines only when the rail is clear."
Apparently the wreckages and the coaches are still on the accident scene.
