Mnangagwa's foundation donates hospital equipment

The Angel of Hope Foundation has donated an assortment of hospital equipment and accessories to the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

The handover ceremony was held at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare today.

The donation comprises of dental treatment units, 2000 kits for eye cataracts, wheel chairs and walkers.

The First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa, who is also the Ambassador for Maternal and Child Care, said she is committed to improving the health delivery system and will continue to engage partners to come on board and assist.

The Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Obediah Moyo commended the First Lady and her foundation for assisting the health sector and fighting HIV and AIDS, as well as cancer.

Meanwhile, Professor Hellen Lee of Diagnostics for the Real World, has donated 10 samba two point of care machines which are used for HIV early infant diagnosis and therapy monitoring.

Access to early infant diagnostic technology has been highlighted as the most effective way of reducing HIV mortality.

Reports say in the last 30 years, mother to child transmission rate was 33 percent before it came down to 28 percent in 2001 and then 5 percent in 2016.
