Bulawayo's Ward 14 Councillor Macdonald Venus Chunga has told residents that his health is important than the work of the council, according to a communication availed to this reporter by the residents' association leaders.
Chunga has reportedly been holed up in South Africa since February, where he is said to be running personal businesses, under the guise of undergoing treatment of an undisclosed illness.
When this publication published a story detailing how the residents were calling for his ouster, Chunga is said to have traveled from South Africa back to the country.
Answering queries from one of the residents association leaders, Chunga said, "Baba ngizwile okutshoyo ....kulungile baba but l will never ever compromise impilo yami ngendaba yesikhundla....and during the convid time ngigula i bp wena ufuna ngigcwele indawo yonke ...yooo ngeke ngizibulale baba ..lawe ma ugula yu look after yourself kawungeke uze emhlangeneni....life is once off ..izikhundla sosala zikhona."
Commenting on the matter Bulawayo progressive Residents Association Chairman for Ward 14 Charles Ndlovu said, "We need the council to tell us why they gave him indefinite sick leave look what he sent me, it shows that he is not fit to be in office."

In our previous story, Lovemore Dube the Acting Treasurer of Ward 14 Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association said the residents were currently gathering signatures demanding the ouster of Chunga.
The residents are accusing Chunga of failing to respond to their needs and would only come to the Ward to consult his Council Committee.
Dube told this publication that, "As rent payers, we want to know if its legal for a Councilor to be absent from duty for 8 months and not attending any single Council sitting or attending to the needs of the people? We feel there is politics going on which is disenfranchising the residents of Ward 14."
