SOUTH Africa Airways (SAA) last night cancelled its evening flight from Johannesburg citing poor lighting on the runway at Harare International Airport.
Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe chief executive officer David Chawota said: "I have already written to SAA so that we can thrash out the issue and get to the bottom of it.
"I gather SAA pilots have been complaining about the lighting, but these lights are adjustable. As I speak right now, Emirates is getting ready to take off. How can it takeoff without proper lighting."
Sources claim that they had been informed by SAA officials that the evening flight had been cancelled due to poor lighting.
"I was informed by SAA officials that the flight had been cancelled due to unavailability of lights on the runway at Harare International Airport," one of the sources said.
