Factional tensions within the ruling Zanu PF party have reportedly reached boiling point, with sources claiming that President Emmerson Mnangagwa's camp is preparing to fire Vice President Constantino Chiwenga within the next five days.
Insiders say the move could trigger unrest, as both Mnangagwa and Chiwenga are believed to command significant support within the military. Mnangagwa recently gifted luxury vehicles to top military commanders - a gesture analysts interpret as an attempt to secure loyalty amid rising tensions.
Chiwenga is said to be furious over Mnangagwa's conduct, especially given his role in orchestrating the removal of former President Robert Mugabe and installing Mnangagwa as leader.
"He sees Mnangagwa as the most ungrateful person," said one source, citing growing friction between the two camps. Mnangagwa loyalist Temba Mliswa has publicly hinted that the President is preparing a move against Chiwenga.
Sources claim the dismissal is imminent, timed to precede Zanu PF's upcoming national conference.
"Chiwenga will be fired from the VP position in the next five days," said one insider. "Just be ready for twists and turns in this political arena."
