HARARE - The pro-ZANU PF group Varakashi4ED has claimed that Zimbabwe's agricultural sector is registering strong growth, with the latest Cabinet update confirming significant progress in grain reserves, wheat production and climate-smart farming.

According to the update, as of 27 November 2025, the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) holds 180,063 metric tonnes of grain, including 60,347 metric tonnes delivered through ARDA, demonstrating that fully utilised land is translating into tangible national output.

Varakashi4ED highlighted the success of the 2025 wheat harvest, which produced 640,195 metric tonnes from 122,146 hectares, achieving an average yield of 5.2 tonnes per hectare. The group said this consolidated Zimbabwe's standing as a regional leader in winter wheat production.

"These gains are being driven by increased support to ARDA, the Pfumvudza/Intwasa climate-proofing model, the Presidential Input Scheme, and continued alignment with NDS1 food security targets," Varakashi4ED said.

Government is also promoting scientific innovation, with ARDA developing new wheat varieties with hard-wheat characteristics to improve flour quality and reduce imports.

Varakashi4ED argued that the results show a clear trend: empowered farmers, supported by targeted policies, are proving that Zimbabwe's land remains productive in the hands of its people.

"Guided by the philosophy Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo, the agriculture sector continues to rise, laying a solid foundation for the 2025/26 summer season and strengthening national food security," the group added.
