More details emerge over Human Rights Commissioner's death

ZIMBABWE Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) Commissioner Dr Martin Muduva has died at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals following injuries sustained during an alleged domestic dispute with his wife.
Muduva, 42, reportedly suffered deep cuts to his head and right hand after allegedly being struck with an unidentified object during a dispute over alleged infidelity.
His wife, Lyliosa Chirara, 43, reportedly died after ingesting rat poison during the incident.
According to preliminary police details, the incident occurred at around 12.20am on Wednesday, September 9, while the couple was at their home.
It is alleged that a misunderstanding over an extramarital affair escalated, resulting in Chirara allegedly striking Muduva with an object suspected to be an axe.
After realising that Muduva had sustained serious injuries, Chirara reportedly consumed rat poison.
A neighbour was alerted and rushed to the scene before the couple was taken to a 24-hour medical centre. Chirara was pronounced dead on admission.
Muduva, who was reportedly in critical condition, was transferred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for further treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
The bodies of the couple were taken to the Parirenyatwa mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths are continuing.
