A 24‑year‑old Plumtree man has landed himself in trouble after allegedly defrauding a woman of US$410 in a fencing deal that he failed to deliver.
Patrick Chikonzi appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who granted him US$30 bail.
Prosecutor Sheile Nyathi told the court that sometime in January, Chikonzi visited Patience Gumbo’s home and provided a quotation for the supply and installation of a fence. Gumbo paid him US$410 for the job, but Chikonzi allegedly failed to carry out the work.
In February, Gumbo realised she had been duped and filed a police report. Only US$80 of the money was recovered from the suspect.
Chikonzi will return to court for trial.
