Man appears in court for ripping off wife's genitals

BINDURA - A 32‑year‑old man from Avoca Farm in Bindura has appeared before a Bindura magistrate facing a domestic violence charge after he allegedly assaulted his 42‑year‑old wife and inflicted severe injuries to her genitals.

State prosecutor Carson Kundiona told the court that on 21 June 2026, the accused, Bernard Mutara, confronted his wife during a dispute over infidelity and her whereabouts. During the altercation, Mutara allegedly used a razor blade to inflict serious injuries on the complainant's genitals.

The court heard that after the assault, the complainant was given water to clean herself before seeking medical attention. Her injuries were medically examined, and a medical affidavit is expected to be produced in court as part of the evidence.

Mutara has been remanded to answer to the charge, with the matter set to continue under the provisions of Zimbabwe's Domestic Violence Act.
