Alishia Musungo placed top marks in the entrance, african round and evening wear section making her the winner of Face of the Globe Zimbabwe Uk on Saturday 3rd August,  her prizes included a 7day all expenses paid trip to compete on the international stage in Paris in October representing Zimbabwe, as well as a beauty hamper (sponsored by Rehoboth Creations) and representation from a top Uk entertainment agency.

18 year old Alishia is the eldest daughter of Regina and Clifford Musungo and is looking forward to starting university in September to study Biomedical Science, when asked how she felt about her win she stated 'Winning the title has given me a break through to raise awareness about problems within Africa. Instead of focusing on problems I want to highlight the goodness and talent of Africa and uplift Zimbabwe's profile. I have had minimum modelling experience but winning Face Of The Globe Zim Uk has given me a platform to launch myself. The title is an honour and has given me responsibility to represent Zimbabwe globally and promote the Face Of the Globe's brand. Being a model comes with it's own challenges such as maintaining your self image & being a role model to others,? however it's a great learning process and I am happy to take on any challenges that come my way. Being in the UK has given me a chance to build my future, I have many resources which have allowed me to complete my education which I am very grateful of.'

Organiser and Pageant Director, Lorraine Chinouriri stated 'Face of the Globe UK was founded by Lucie Hide (she has been involved in pageants for 14 years in Europe). I then bought the license for Zimbabwe. Face of the Globe caught my attention because it was the first ever pageant that was giving mothers, wives and women over 25 the opportunity to showcase their beauty and intelligence and then compete on an international stage, what also captured my attention is the fact there was no swimwear round, the founder replaced it with a fashion round and I in turn changed our pageant one into an african print.

A former pageant Princess herself , Lorraine (crowned 1st Princess in Miss Zim Diamond 2011 and finalist in Miss Galaxy England 2012) said 'I no longer compete in pageants but still love the platforms they give women, I have always been passionate about women empowerment and business, so this pageant has given me the opportunity to combine the two.'

The pageant initially had 10 finalists including a girl who applied from Zimbabwe, but according to organisers nerves and self doubt meant some dropped out and they were left with 6. They were Bongani Field, Karen Gomwe, Sue Mhundwa, Cecilia Kupera, Nicole Dune and Alishia Musungo. Sue Mhundwa won a year modelling contract with KM models as well as being crowned 1st Princess, Cecilia Kupera won Miss Photogenic, Karen Gomwe  won Miss Personality (voted for by other finalists) a modelling contract to be the new face of Blackarmoor Clothing (founded by Gray Rwangah) as well as being crowned 2nd Princess. The girls all designed their African prints and also bought all their outfits, all the girls makeup was done by Zimbabwean business owners Sandz Makeup and Lavida Royale and some proceeds from the night were given to CNN Hero Betty Makoni's Girl Child Network.

The host  was Glorianne Francis and the panel of judges included Pageant Coach Shirley James, Top Zim designer Leah Africadesign, First Black Miss England Rachel Christie and the Founder of Face of the Globe Lucie Hide.

The pageant was covered by media which included Toch ltd (who are going to create a DVD of the pageant for global distribution), ZimLink& Media4Youth (who did interviews on the day) Monsignor Photographic and Zim Entertainment.

The sponsors were, Aloe Vera by Melody Chinouriri, Toch ltd, La Reine, Power of Business Networking, Sandz Makeup, Lavida Royale, Blackarmoor Clothing, KM models and African Arts Council.

Entertainment included DJ King Alfred, Pearl Doherty, Shanky and Boyz Retonaz.

Entrepreneur and Pageant Director Lorraine has said they will be launching in Zimbabwe in 2014 and taking the lucky winners to compete with UK finalists and are currently open to sponsorship and representatives to hold the Zim finals!
