The Namibian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ms Balbina Daes Pienaar, has saluted the Zimbabwe government's ZIMASSET blue print as an impressive tool for economic prosperity and empowerment.

Ms Pienaar was speaking when she met Acting President Joice Mujuru at her Munhumutapa Offices in Harare on Thursday.

She said she is impressed to see the commitment of the Government of Zimbabwe to the goals and aspirations of its people as espoused in the ZIMASSET blue print.

Ms Pienaar said as a sister country, Namibia believes it is time to extend a hand of co-operation through concrete development programmes in areas such as mining, energy and education.

Zimbabwe and Namibia have exchanges in human resources in the sectors of education, engineering and agriculture.

In 2007, Zimbabwe and Namibia sealed a deal that enabled power utility ZESA to receive a loan for the refurbishment of Hwange Thermal Power Station.

The success of the project has led to the extension of another facility for power generation at the Harare and Bulawayo power stations to improve power generation in the country.

Under ZIMASSET, power generation is a priority as it will create a conducive business environment for investors.

Meanwhile, Angolan ambassador Hendrick Vaal Neto also held a meeting with Cde Mujuru.

He told journalists soon afterwards that they are still studying the ZIMASSET blue print to see which areas they can establish partnerships with Zimbabwe.

Recently, the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development, Cde Walter Chidhakwa, signed an agreement with Angola on co-operation in diamond mining between Kotoka of Angola and Marange Diamonds.

The ambassador of Sudan to Zimbabwe, Mr Hamdan Wadi Ebeidalla, was the last to meet with Acting President Mujuru.

Zimbabwe and Sudan share close ties in the African Union, COMESA and other regional and international organisations.
