Four Chinamhora women accused of bedding a 14-year-old boy in return for cash and groceries appeared in court on Wednesday facing charges of having sex with a minor and aggravated indecent assault.
Cynthia Muvengeranwa, Annah Gatso, Memory Chimuka and Florida Mupfuranhewe were not formally charged when they appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei.
Chimuka and Muvengeranwa are accused of sleeping with a minor, while Gatso is charged with aggravated indecent assault.
Mupfuranhewe is charged with having sexual intercourse with a minor.
Prosecutor Ms Sharon Mashavira told the court that the quartet had sex with the teenage boy between October and December this year.
It is alleged that sometime in November, Gatso had sex with the 14-year-old and threatened to knife him if he revealed the matter.
Ms Mashavira said on December 4 Mupfuranhewe twice had sex with the boy after he paid her for intercourse.
The State opposed bail for the four women arguing that they were facing serious offences and were likely to abscond trial.
"The four are of no fixed abode as indicated in court by the papers," she added.
"They are likely to interfere with investigations as witnesses also reside at Mverechena business centre where the alleged offence was committed.
"Mupfuranhewe survives on committing sex offences for financial benefits and the community should be protected from such people.
"If she is granted bail she might go back into the community and commit the same offence."
Mr Ndirowei remanded Muverenganwa, Chimuka and Mupfuranhewe out of custody to January 11 on $20 apiece, while Gatso was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
