Parly opening thrown into a 'ghetto party'
29 Oct 2014 at 06:30hrs | Views
THE Second Session of the Eighth Parliament yesterday was thrown into a ghetto party as parliamentarians notably Zanu-PF and MDC-T shoved and pushed in a bid to fit into the august House which only accommodates 200 legislators yet their 270 members of parliament.
While President Mugabe officially opened parliament yesterday, several of them might have watched from the terraces as jostling for seats turned uglier.
"The shoving and pushing for seats inside the chamber was so crude and undignified. Most un-parliamentary. Some Zanu-PF members occupied opposition benches "and insolently refused to vacate our spaces," one MDC-T parliamentarian Jessie Majome was quoted as saying by Reuters.
