Top Zanu-PF official gets vote of no confidence

The Zanu PF Harare provincial executive has passed a vote of no confidence in Harare provincial chairman Ambassador Amos Midzi at the provincial party headquarters in Harare Thursday evening.
At a meeting attended by representatives of the main wing, the women's league, war veterans, ZILIWACO, and youths, 26 members of the executive voted in favour of Ambassador Midzi's removal from the chairmanship.
The provincial leadership alleges continued incidents of fanning factionalism, lack of respect for the party's founding principles and disrespecting the President.
They accused Ambassador Midzi of failing to uphold the party's constitutional provisions and obligations that require that the provincial executive convenes a meeting monthly, but for the past few months the province has not held the meeting.
They also alleged that Ambassador Midzi is sidelining the new youth provincial leader Godwin Gomwe, in favour of the previous chairman Jim Kunaka, who is alleged to be among the former chairman's guests at a meeting which was held last Sunday from 6pm to 2300 hours.
Legal secretary for Harare province Danny Musukuma said the executive got a petition expressing concern over Midzi's alleged divisiveness and discrimination of party cadres, hence the decision to pass the vote of no confidence.
These developments come hardly a month ago when the First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe during her ‘Meet the People Rallies' tried to broker peace and reconcile the feuding sides in Harare.
The meeting announced that according to party rules and regulations the vice chairman of the province will be in charge in an acting capacity.
