Mutare businessman and Zanu-PF central committee member Esau Mupfumi yesterday dragged two Marondera council employees to court accusing them of throwing spikes on his bus and damaging two tyres.

According to Newsday, Mupfumi told Marondera magistrate Shane Kubonera that Panganayi Gowa (47) and Enerst Jack (42) threw spikes on his bus as it was passing through Marondera town on November 28 last year and deflated two tyres in the process.

He said the damages were worth $1 400.

The matter was postponed to Monday after the council employees pleaded with the court to allow them to seek legal representation.

According to court papers, the bus driver Gift Dove was driving past Women's University of Africa (formerly Marondera Hotel) along the Harare-Mutare highway when passengers beckoned him to pull off the road as the left tyres had been deflated by council spikes.
