Pope Leo XIV meets Mnangagwa at Vatican

Pope Leo XIV on Saturday, August 30, held a private audience with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the Vatican.
Following the papal meeting, President Mnangagwa met with Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
According to a statement from the Holy See Press Office, the talks highlighted the good relations between Zimbabwe and the Vatican. Discussions focused on Zimbabwe's political and economic situation, as well as cooperation with the local Church in healthcare, education, and environmental initiatives.
The statement added that the parties also exchanged views on regional matters, stressing the importance of multilateralism, dialogue, and international cooperation.
