The MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai has reportedly completed the first round of meetings with the party's provincial structures of Midlands South in Gweru.
This was revealed by party' secretary general Douglas Mwonzora.
"President Morgan Tsvangirai and his top leadership have concluded the first round of provincial meetings with a well attended meeting of the party structures of the Midlands South Province in Gweru yesterday," he said. "The aims of the provincial programs was two-fold. First it was to enable the president to communicate the strategic vision and plan for 2016 to the party structures. Second, it was to assess the structural strength of the party in each province and lay the ground for the next programs. We were generally encouraged by the top leadership cohesion displayed during these programs."
Mwonzora said the President traveled throughout the provinces with his top leadership effectively dispelling negative rumors of dis-cohesion within the MDC cockpit.
He said the messages from the various leaders dovetailed nicely with the main message from the president. It was clear that these leaders were all clear on the vision of the party.
"We were generally very impressed by the organisation of the party in the various provinces. We have also got a good appreciation of areas of weakness and we are working on those. It is clear from these meetings that the victory is for the MDC to lose come next election," he said. "It is encouraging that some of the places that recorded the highest turnout were rural areas. What has over the weeks distinguished the MDC from other political parties is its unique and new programmatic thrust, cohesion and focus. We promise Zimbabweans exciting times to come. That we were the only political party with such well arranged programes that attracted a good turn out is not by coincidence."
He said MDC is clearly on the rebound and victory is certain.
