AN attempt by the fabulously rich Mines and Mining Development Minister Obert Mpofu to win the hearts of the Xhosa community was this week foiled after the royal family rejected his donation of an unknown number of cattle.

Mpofu, a self confessed President Robert Mugabe son is said to have sent emissaries with the donation but they were told in no uncertain terms that "no thank you, your donation is unacceptable because it will make this cultural event political," a Xhosa source said.

The source added that Mpofu's donation entourage was also told that if the rich minister wanted to come he can come in his personal capacity and not "put on his Zanu-PF jacket."

Further, the source revealed that Professor Welshman Ncube has been invited to the event in his personal capacity and he has already confirmed attending.

"A lot of politicians have been invited including Prof Ncube. He has already confirmed that he will attend in his personal capacity," said the source.

The 22nd King of Xhosas is in Zimbabwe for the celebrations which will begin with a circumcision ceremony on December 22 at KwaMbete.

On the 23rd, King Kumkani Kwelonke Sigcawu from Eastern Cape in South Africa will preside over the celebrations.

If Minister Mpofu attends the celebrations on 22 December, he might spark a raw in Zanu-PF which will be celebrating its Unity Accord of that day.
