THE control over the war veterans Matabeleland South chapter took another turn yesterday when "ousted chairman" Obedingwa Mguni scoffed at reports that he was kicked out of his position insisting that he was still the leader of the organisation in the province. Speaking during a meeting at the Zanu-PF offices in Gwanda yesterday, Mguni, who was chairing the meeting of war veterans said people claiming to be have taken over the association were nonentities who were not known nationally.
"There are traitors who decided to make their own parallel committee in the province, but I assure you that I was elected into this position in Masvingo and I can never let these headless chickens occupy my place. I was sent by President Mugabe to come and maintain order in this province therefore I will not allow that disorder to happen in front of my eyes, people should not be misled that there are two executive committees in this province, there is only one that is chaired by me," said Mguni who is also the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.
"There are dangerous people who want to divide Zanu-PF in Matabeleland South yet they forget the President's words that we must unite for us to prosper as a party, no one has the right to claim that they love him more than others. I can see many have been misled as there are few people in my meeting but it does not matter because to me quality is much more important than quantity."
He said he was disappointed that he was denied access to the association's district offices as keys were said to have been taken by Eyer Moyo, who was announced to have taken over from Mguni last month.

"I had to contact a lot of people trying to access those keys which even delayed my meeting. It also came to my ears that this ‘other' committee had requested police to disrupt our meeting but I am glad that it didn't happen because even the police are aware of one committee chaired by me. We are in the process of writing a letter to the police so that we can retrieve those keys. We don't want rebels who will weaken our party," said Mguni.
However, on Friday Moyo had also conducted his meeting declaring that he was the chairman and no one will remove him as he was chosen by the people.
