THE headmistress of Siganda Secondary School, Mrs Concillia Ngwenya, who was recently brutally stabbed by a male teacher at the school, has been discharged from hospital.
Mrs Ngwenya was admitted to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) after the male teacher, Nhlonipho Nyathi, allegedly attacked her during a disciplinary hearing over his alleged affair with a 16-year-old Form Three pupil.
After allegedly stabbing her 15 times all over the body, Nyathi went on to stab the girl on the left breast and shoulder thereby disrupting an examination.
The girl was also discharged from Inyathi District Hospital last week and is reportedly recovering in Siganda.
Mrs Ngwenya who last week received a donation from the Zimbabwe Teachers' Association (Zimta) towards her medical bill, was discharged on Wednesday after spending two weeks at UBH.
She was reportedly operated on as doctors wanted to drain blood from her chest after she bled internally thereby putting her life in danger.
Mrs Ngwenya sustained serious injuries on her legs, arms and face.
Nyathi (29), from Jabulani Village in Ntabazinduna, appeared in court last week facing two charges of attempted murder.
He was not formally charged and was remanded in custody to Monday.
The Provincial Education Director for Matabeleland North Mrs Boithatelo Mnguni said they would be guided by the outcome of the case in court to proceed with the alleged offence Nyathi committed at the school.
She said in the event Nyathi is incarcerated for more than 30 days that would mean automatic discharge from his duties.
