Jonathan Moyo condemns police brutality again

Zanu PF spin doctor Professor Jonathan Moyo has condemned the torture of arrested citizens by the police saying it is illegal. This is in contrast to the comments he made in 2002 when the army was deployed against civilians.
This came after the images of female arrested protesters emerged with heavily bruised buttocks during their court appearance on Monday.
The women through their lawyer said they were tortured while in police custody on Saturday by the Police Support Unit.
Said Moyo "They are illegal in that they are not sanctioned by the UN but are unilateral actions of the countries imposing them based on their laws!"
Moyo was responding to a question posed by the Tajamuka movement who asked "@ProfJNMoyo is torturing arrested citizens legal? if not why is the state not acting against the officers involved".
This is a different Jonathan Moyo to the one in 2002.
Speaking in his capacity as minister of information on 11 April 2002 about deployment of the army against civilians, Moyo expressed his considered opinion that, "where the army is deployed, people should not expect a picnic."
